HAPPY HALLOWEEN to everyone and welcome to my stamping blog! Today is the last October challenge at Our Creative Corner. Lori has done a fabulous job at CHALLENGING us!! Today’s challenge was again quite the challenge for me. We were to use something vintage or vintage inspired. I found that Lovely As a Tree is as “vintage” as I get! Hasn’t this stamp set been around for like 100 years? (heehee!) That’s vintage, right?
Here’s a side view to see all the sparkle!
I also used the Splitcoast Sketch Challenge SC252 for this card. If you like this card, you might also like this one.
Here’s what else I used:
Stamps: Lovely as a Tree, Teeny Tiny Wishes,
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Dusty Durango, More Mustard, Very Vanilla
Ink: Chocolate Chip, More Mustard, Dusty Durango, Ruby Red,
Accessories: Modern Label Punch, Word Window punch, Gold brads, Gold Elastic Cording, Mat Pack/Paper Piercer, 1/4″ Chocolate Chip Grosgrain ribbon, Sponge daubers, Chocolate Chip marker, Dimensionals, M.S. punch, Gold Stickles
Be sure and check out the rest of the OCC design team creations! We invite you to take the challenge and play along. There is no time limit on our challenges. Feel free to participate whenever you are able. To play along, upload your creation to your blog or gallery, then leave a comment linking to your project so we can check it out. If you upload to SCS, remember to use keyword: OCCC
Edited later as many of you have asked how I did this…Here’s how I did it:
I used a sponge dauber and inked the grass and tree trunks up through the center of the trees with chocolate chip. Then I used daubers to ink the dusty Durango, more mustard, and ruby red on. I combined them on a tree by inking ruby red in the center and dusty Durango out at the edges. Then on another tree I used dusty Durango in the center and more mustard out at the edges. I went back and used the chocolate chip marker to make some of the bare branch parts brown again and then I used gold stickles and dabbed it here and there over the leaf parts of the trees.

Great twist on the vintage challenge, Wendy! I really do think this is the most popular and long-lasting stamp set SU has ever created and has certainly earned a vintage designation. Your trees are really amazing – so autumn looking. Makes me want to dust off my set and have a go at it.

Lovely card. I ditto the earlier comment. How did you color the leaves? From the photo I can’t figure it out. Did you color everything on the stamp with markers? If so, that is some amazing detail coloring work within the branches of the trees. Thanks for sharing the card.
